33rd Japan Academy Prize Nominations

The nominations for the 2010 Japan Academy Prize (the Japanese equivalent for the Motion Picture Academy Awards, a.k.a the Oscars) are just in.

The nominees for Best Picture and Best Director are:

• Villon’s Wife (Kichitaro Negishi)
  
• The Sun That Doesn’t Set (Setsuro Wakamatsu)
  
• Zero Focus (Isshin Inudo)
  
• Mt. Tsurugidake (Daisaku Kimura)
  
• Dear Doctor (Miwa Nishikawa)

The nominees for Best Animation are:

• Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance [Evangelion Shin Gekijōban: Ha] (Hideaki Anno / Khara)
  
• Summer Wars (Mamoru Hosoda / Madhouse)
  
• Doraemon: Shin Nobita no Uchū Kaitakushi (Shigeo Koshi / Shinei Animation)
  
• Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror [Hottarake no Shima - Haruka to Mahō no Kagami] (Shinsuke Sato / Production I.G.)
  
• Detective Conan: The Raven Chaser [Meitantei Conan: Shikkoku no Chaser] (Yasuichiro Yamamoto / TMS)

The winners will be announced at a ceremony held on March 5th, 2010.
